Description
The CDI Flexible Furler FF9 is the largest in the series specifically created to focus on large sailboats. It is designed with ball bearings as a standard option because of the higher strain on the mechanism with larger sails. Why the Flexible Furler?
Safety
A built in halyard eliminates the possibility of halyard wrap by removing inconvenient halyard swivels to maximize reliability no matter if you’re out for the day or making a passage.
Simplicity and Reliability
With just 1/8th the number of parts compared to our competitors maintenance, installation and day to day operation are a breeze! We use a dependable one piece urethane furling drum with a stainless steel drum cover to keep the furling line in place.
Backed by a best in business warranty you can be confident that we have your back!
Our Bearing Assembly
We use larger ½” Torlon balls, requiring maintenance less often, and much less labor intensive, because the larger bearings can accommodate the small amounts of dirt that end up in the assembly. Regular maintenance is as easy as rinsing with a hose at the end of the season.
Every few years, or as needed, you can disassemble and clean thoroughly. Check out our FAQ to see a full disassembly and cleaning!
Ball bearings are optional on FF1, FF2, FF4, and FF6. Bearings are standard on FF7 and FF9.
Performance Surveys
In 1996 Practical Sailor released their most recent Furler Owner Survey. CDI’s Flexible Furler ranked #2, finishing only 1% behind first place.
Owners of our Flexible Furler ranked it higher than Furlex, Harken, Schaeffer, and ProFurl!
Safety Warning
CDI Flexible Furler is meant to furl and reef forward sails such as Jibs and Staysails. It is not intended to be used with a mainsail or mizzens.
The CDI Flexible Furler can NOT be used in water with your mast tipped forward to pass under low obstructions such as bridges. Lowering the mast as described is dangerous with or without a furler and is made significantly more dangerous with the weight of a furler and a sail attached.
